GIG HARBOR, Wa. — Jamie Fay, assistant general manager and marketing director at Chambers Bay, was killed on Saturday morning during a high-powered windstorm that swept through the Puget Sound area.
Fay was driving home with his 3-year-old daughter on Borgen Boulevard when the tree came down and slammed into his vehicle.
“This is heart wrenching,” Gig Harbor Police Chief Kelly Busey said. “A father was just taken from their child, husband taken from their wife, certainly just a tragedy just out of nowhere.”
The 3-year-old was uninjured in the accident. Fay had been at Chambers Bay since the course opened in 2008, B.K. Koehnemann, Chambers Bay spokesman said. He leaves behind a wife, his daughter, and a newborn.
