U.S. WAPL qualifying begins

Sectional Qualifying for the 2012 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links (WAPL) Championship will take place on Wednesday on the Prospector Course at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash. Twelve amateurs will attempt to earn one of the three available spots advancing into the championship proper, which will be held at Neshanik Valley Golf Course in Neshanik Station, NJ on June 18-23.

Qualifiers for the U.S. WAPL are limited to amateur female golfers (no age limit) with a Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4, who are bona fide public course players. Play will commence on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.  The WAPL is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA. Spectators are welcome to come out and watch some of the region’s top golfers battle for a spot in the championship.

Nationwide the USGA accepted 685 entries into the 2012 WAPL, with 143 qualifying positions available.

The Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association and conducts this Qualifier for the United States Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.
