Moore notches fourth career ace

PACIFIC PALISADES, Ca. — Ryan Moore picked up the fourth hole-in-one of his career on Sunday at the Northern Trust Open.

Moore used a 7-iron at Riviera Country Club’s 16th hole for the ace, which will earn a fan a year’s worth of mortgage payments thanks to the Quicken Loans Hole-in-One Sweepstakes.

“I think that’s awesome,” Moore said. “When that came out a year or two ago, I thought that was a really cool thing to do, and to keep some intrigue every week on the course and on par 3s and keep people watching. … I’m just glad I could help out.”

Moore’s ace at No. 16, which was playing 163 yards on Sunday, was the hole’s second this week. Tyrone Van Aswegen made one there in the third round.

“It was a tough little hole location there today on 16, and man, of all the shots, I honestly didn’t think that one had much of a chance,” Moore said. “It landed in the rough and got a great kick.

“I couldn’t see it, you were kind of blind from up there, but we had a good crowd around there that all kind of jumped in the air and went in. It was fun.”

There have now been 13 holes-in-one on the PGA Tour this year.
