Els leads list of Boeing Classic rookies

SNOQUALMIE, WA — Hall of Famer Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and Mike Weir Commit to 2021 Boeing Classic All three players will be competing at Snoqualmie Ridge for the first time Snoqualmie, Wash. (August 9, 2021) –

World Golf Hall of Fame member Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and Mike Weir have committed to the 16th Annual Boeing Classic benefitting the Benaroya Research Institute, scheduled for August 16-22 at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge.

The event returns to the Puget Sound region after the cancellation of last year’s tournament due to COVID-19. Single day tickets start at just $20 in advance and $25 at the gate.

Els, from Johannesburg, South Africa, has two wins on PGA TOUR Champions in addition to 14 top-10 finishes in 26 events. Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2011, Els has 19 PGA TOUR wins, including the U.S. Open and British Open each two times. Furyk, a product of the University of Arizona, won his first two starts on PGA TOUR Champions during the 2020-21 wraparound season, The Ally Challenge and the PURE Insurance Championship.

He won the U.S. Senior Open Championship last month. Furyk posted 17 PGA TOUR wins, including the 2003 U.S. Open and 2010 THE TOUR Championship, and won the 2010 FedExCup title.

Weir, a native of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, won the Insperity Championship in May. In 20 starts on PGA TOUR Champions, he has 10 top-10 results, including a win and four second place finishes. Weir recorded eight PGA TOUR career wins including the 2003 Masters Tournament.

“We are very excited to welcome Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and Mike Weir to the Club at Snoqualmie Ridge for the 2021 Boeing Classic,” said Tournament Director Brian Flajole. “This will be the first time that these players will be competing in the tournament. They are elite players who will really elevate the competition for this year’s return. Ernie, Jim and Mike are tremendously popular with fans and we can’t wait for them to tee off in the Boeing Classic next week.”

The health and safety of everyone attending the Boeing Classic is the main priority of tournament officials. The Boeing Classic operates under, and complies with, current State of Washington, King County, and PGA TOUR COVID-19 guidelines.

For this year’s tournament, there are no capacity limitations or physical distancing requirements outside on the 2,200-acre course. However, masks are required for all indoor functions and clubhouse access during tournament week. In addition, all attendees who plan to use a tournament shuttle from the parking lots are required to wear a mask for the duration of the shuttle ride, regardless of vaccination status.
